Summary: This article recounts the shooting that recently occurred at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and President Trump’s plans to visit the site of the massacre. Trump has been scrutinized for his reaction and response to the horrible event, and many individuals are fighting for the President...

https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/noaa-n/climate/climate_weather.html The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is an independent agency of the United States Federal Government responsible for the space program, as well as aeronautics and aerospace research. Dwight D. Eisenhower established NASA in 1958 with a distinctly civilian, rather than military. Also, the National Aeronautics and Space Act was passed on July 29, 1958, renouncing NASA's predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. The new agency became operational on October 1, 1958. Since its establishment, most space exploration has led by NASA, including the Apollo landing missions, and more In 2018, NASA alongside with other companies including Sensor Coating Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Monitor Coating and UTRC have launched the project Caution (Coatings for Ultra High-Temperature detection).  The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time. How Social Media is being used to Influence Users

Assessment of News Source: The news company that published the article is Axios, which leans slightly to the left. It was founded in 2017 by the former heads of Politico, another reputable news company. Several respectable public figures have invested in Axios, such as NBC, the widow of Steve Jobs, and the CEO of Dreamworks. Sara Fischer is the author of the article. She holds a bachelor’s degree in and a Master’s degree in, both from The George Washington University; she’s worked at Politico, CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post (isoj.org). The natives are the original people on the United States soil and many Americans find it as disrespectful to them to have a statue and a day dedicated to Christopher Columbus that has really executed many natives. " It’s a controversial day with a turbulent history. “This historically problematic holiday — Columbus never actually set foot on the continental U...

CE #5 (Week 10)

For this week’s Current Event blog post, I chose an article from The New York Times (The NYT). It was founded on September 18, 1851, and it is regarded by many as a highly renowned and respected newspaper publication company. The NYT has won a total of 125 Pulitzer Prizes—a type of award that honors organizations for their distinguished work in journalism—and they have more than any other newspaper company at the present time. The NYT continues to be one of the most circulated newspapers in the United States. The article I read makes a hypothesis about solutions for improving ethics within Silicon Valley companies, through the criticization of Google, Facebook, Tesla, and others. The author highlights a recent incident in which a journalist was reportedly beheaded by Saudi Arabian leaders, and she discusses their connection to companies in Silicon Valley. The article attempts to analyze why there is an ethics problem, and how there is now, more than ever, a need to finally address it ...

Fox news is one of the main US news sources founded in October 7, 1996. It is known  for promoting a conservative or right-wing agenda. This media source presents the news in such a way that pathos is very strong and the audience interacting formulate comments in the same way. Logos is very poor due to its lack of information and relevant facts which would give ethos a much stronger voice. The news report is about a young man being killed by cops in Georgia. This 18 year old man was found to be the main author of the murder of officer Toney. Officer Toney was sent to check a suspicious parked car in which Tafharee Maynard, the murderer, was in. Maynard started the shoot apparently out of nowhere and shot officer Toney. Officer Toney was covered by his coworkers but Maynard finally escaped. Hours after the crime, officer Toney was declared dead. After two days of hard search, cops finally found Maynard in a shed with a lawnmower blade and because he didn't follow instructions given ...

Today my current event source is NBC news. NBC is a very well known TV station with high credibility and another solidity factor to me is I have never heard anything bad about NBC from either side of political views. I did some research into NBC with this being said because I wanted to know what they were all about. NBC is about always being factually correct and trying to have no bias at all. They were founded in 1940 and before posting any news they always have several analysis on these articles to check facts and solidify the content. The article i chose was about why most athletes are not arrested for on the field fights. Although this insident was not on the field it was on the basketball court. In the los Angles Lakers Vs. the Houston Rockets game Chris Paul or (CP3) was caught in a all out brawl with Rondo and tempers fired up fast causing both players to be ejected yet no one arrested. Some people ask the question why was one player not arrested for assault like any other per...

CE 5 BBC

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42251921 The article I chose this week is from The British Broadcasting Corporation. Written by a meteorologist at BBC. It's called; "Is climate change making hurricanes worse?" It begins by explaining how bad 2017 has been and how the hurricanes then, broke some records. Then, It surprised me. The author had done his research. He starts making claims about the biggest, wettest, and costliest storms. But he backs it up with charts and statistics. Stating that the earth has increased in temperature one degree. He concludes that there is no upward trend because the annual storm energy ranges the same because surrounding years are still calm. It impressed me. He was informative and had evidence. It was technically an opinion article because it's part of the news but it provides great insight to how bad hurricanes have been lately.

I read an article about will President Trump's withdraw from nuclear treaty spark an arms race or Russian compliance. The article was written by NBC News. NBC is the National Broadcasting company and was founded in 1926 making it Americas oldest broadcasting company. NBC was founded by David Sarnoff. NBC News is slightly liberal. Over the weekend President Donald Trump withdrew the United States out of a nuclear agreement with Russia made between former President Ronald Raegan and Russia. The agreement was designed to keep ground based missiles out of Europe. Trump said Russia has been violating the agreement for years. Former President Obama also accused Russia of breaking the agreement. However Russia also accused the United States of breaking the agreement. I think the author does a good job of providing the whole story and not just certain details. Even though NBC is known to be slightly more liberal they did not show any bias when talking about Trump. The article had nice visu...

The Hill focuses mainly on the news that contains political, policy, business and international relations. It is a newspaper journal as well as a website. Although, I did investigate on media bias/fact check and they are categorized as a left centered bias which is liberal.    The article I chose was " Trump: US to 'begin cutting off' aid to countries associated with migrant caravan" by Brett Samuels. It projects the actions our government is taking towards thousands of immigrants fleeing their countries to find safety from violence and gangs in their countries. Samuels describes that the government is deciding to take away from the countries in a form of punishment for not stoping the caravan of immigrants. He also mentions that the president of the United St...
