Fox News is a United States pay television news channel owned by the Fox Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox founded in  October 7, 1996. Fox News has a well developed page. The sections and the information are easy to find. For each article there is a video that makes the article more fun to read/watch. Besides, at the bottom of each report, there are links to other articles related to the topic being discussed. The news report I read about talked about the caravan coming from Central America to the US through the border and how Mexicans see this negatively. The caravan has been forming since months ago and their main purpose is to cross the Mexican-American border. A poll showed that more than half of the population of Mexico encourages the American authorities to block the borders for the caravan to cross. The poll also showed that around 70% of the Mexican population disapproves the fact that people formed in caravans want to cross the Mexican-American border ...

The New York Post is a daily newspaper in New York City founded in  1801. This newspaper page has a format with different sections well distributed. However, my first impression of this page was if I was reading a page coming from a comic movie. I could not take the format of the page serious. The fact that it includes a section called Page Six to talk about celebrities gave the page a less credible image. The news report I read about was the phenomenon El Niño forming by February. It is known to be one of the biggest natural disasters that occur along the Equator. It affects several countries especially those along the Pacific Ocean. The main effects of this natural disaster are flooding, temperature raise and destruction of crops. Although El Niño impacts negatively and occurs every few years, it was prognosticated to be weaker this February than it was in 2015-2016. This news report had an informative sense for those not only living in the main affected areas, but to t...

NBC News is the news division of the American broadcast television network NBC, formerly known as the National Broadcasting Company when it was founded on radio in  February 21, 1940. When I looked through the webpage, it was well developed. The news reports were easy to find. It was well divided by sections for any person's interests . It updates every hour with a lot of information and videos to make it more dynamic to read/watch. The news report I found was about the GM (General Motors) crisis. This mega company was found to be in crisis due to the poor demand in their biggest production, sedans. It seems to have given an unexpected turn for the car market. Most of their factories were destined to produce sedans, but now they have to start with other types of car production such as SUV's or trucks. Also, the news source talks about the intervention of President Trump. He promised to give economic support to the company when he was a candidate for the presidency. But now, he ...

November 12, 2018 https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/llama-antibodies-may-be-key-flu-prevention-180970704/ In August of 1846, the Smithsonian Institution was established by the United States government “for the increase and diffusion of knowledge.” It is a group of museums and research centers and is named after British scientist James Smithson. The institution includes nine research centers, nineteen museums and a zoo and has coined the title of “the nation’s attic” due to the 154 million items that it holds. The Smithsonian receives 30 million visitors annually that receive admission free of charge. This specific article speaks of an innovative idea for the flu vaccine. Normally with this vaccine, people are injected with a dead strain of the virus so that their immune system can create the antibodies needed for the real thing. This becomes hard sometimes, however, because the influenza virus evolves quickly, and it is a rather aggressive approach for people who might ...

My news source for this weeks current event blog is National Geographic. It is a scientific news source that focuses on news about nature and it was founded in 1888. The interesting thing about this news source is that is has 21 members that form it and they are so diverse in career. although it does have conservatives on the members of trustees as well that will make their matter of interest bias.    The article I read this week was called, "The illegal market for tarantulas is hairy business " by the author Jani Actman. It was recently published on November the fourth and is dedicated as an awareness article towards aiding this species off spiders escape booming illicit trade as pets and display pieces. https://www.ajc.com/news/fox-and-nbc-stop-airing-trump-immigrant-deemed-racist/cbtWcjEoAtePWnuroWaPlN/ This week I chose the Atlanta Journal Constitution which has to be one of Georgia's oldest newspapers. The article was about a pro-trump commercial. Apparently, it featured an immigrant convicted of murder. Which according to them and they're reports of all of the other major news companies, is extremely racist. I didn't see the commercial but it sounds like things were out of proportion at that point. The article is mainly about everyone's response. The other news companies, Trump himself and even his son. It appeared to have tried to give a fair account of what everyone thought about the commercial and for the most part it did. It also sounded like the writer was criticising everyone that thought it was racist.

The Los Angeles Times is a newspaper company in Los Angeles founded by Norman Pearlstine in 1881. The LA Times, much like most of California is a liberal based organization. It is the fourth largest newspaper company in the US and the biggest that is not on the east coast. Iran is defying military forces staged war exercises as they resist the Trump administrations harsh economic sanctions. The sanctions resist Irans oil, shipping, and banking sectors to penalize countries for doing business with Iran. Iran believes the sanctions are illegal and are hurting the average person. The Iran economy has been struggling. I think that the article is very well written and detailed. The LA Times is known to be very liberal although no bias was shown in this article. Liberals typically despise Trump so I thought they did a good job of not showing bias. The article provides great detail so you understand everything that is going on. It provided lots of facts about some of the deals with Iran. I th...

This week my source was the Washington Post they are a very self proclaimed news group who is very popular but also very unpopular to some. To me with all the research and articles i saw on the Washington Post they seem very anti Trump and very pro democratic. Every article i saw was going against anything that was republican and i think that if your going to be a news company you have to look at the good and bad in both sides to be successful. They are also very nit picky with what they chose a lot of the topics i saw were small talk and didn't even mean anything at the end of the day.     With all this being said my article was chosen because i tried to pick one that went somewhat the other way the only one i found even close to be exact! This article was about how the Justice Department will watch over the voting on election day to try and prevent voting from happening in the coming up election. It talks about how The president tweeted that anyone caught cheating will be c...

CE #6 (Week 12) - Brandon C

The Washington Post (WaPo) is an established source of news in America. They have a political leaning in their coverage and they put a focus on the government. It is published daily in Washington, D.C., where it is circulated the most. Behind the New York Times, the WaPo has the second highest number of Pulitzer Prizes—47 at the time of writing. A particular note about the WaPo is that it is currently owned by Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon. The headline for my post this week is, “Amazon in advanced talks about putting HQ2 in Northern Virginia, those close to process say.” It discusses some of the details from their confidential source that claims Amazon may have picked a final choice for their second headquarters. They are careful to highlight some of the rhetoric surrounding the decision, including that some people believe it could be a controversial move. My analysis is that the WaPo is in a particularly interesting place to be owned by the CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, and to be exclu...
