NAFTA

I read an article about a revised trade deal between the United States, Canada, and Mexico, also known as Nafta. The article was written by Ana Swanson and Katie Rogers. In the article President Trump said that with the revised plan Nafta will now be known as the United States and Mexico trade agreement to try and get the Canadians more motivated to strike a more United States friendly deal. President Trump has said many times that he is not a supporter of the trade agreement as he has said it is the worst trade agreement in United States history. With the new deal it is intended to bring more car manufacturing to the United States from Mexico. To qualify for zero tariffs under Nafta, car companies would be required to manufacture at least 75 percent of an automobile’s value in North America under the new rules, up from 62.5 percent previously. They will also be required to use more local steel, aluminum and auto parts, and have 40 percent to 45 percent of the car made by workers earning at least $16 an hour, a benefit to both the United States and Canada. I personally like what President Trump is doing because it is not fair for Americans to pay higher tariffs than the Canadians are making us pay. This will be able to produce more jobs for America and boost the economy. I believe this is a very well written article. The article was very well written and provided many details about the new revised plan that should benefit the United States. The authors also did a very good job at not showing any of their personal bias’ as it was hard to tell if he was a republican or democrat. The article talked just about the facts and stayed away from personal opinions. The authors used logos heavily and rarely used pathos or logos.
