Assessment of news source: Fox News Channel (FNS), also known as Fox News, is a basic cable and satellite television news channel based in the United States that is dedicated to delivering breaking political and business news. Because FNC’s founding CEO is the former Republican political consultant Roger Ailes, the news organization is known for favoring conservative causes and having a strong, right bias. Funded through television programming and filmed entertainment from its parent companies--Fox Entertainment Group and 21st Century Fox--FNC is often labeled one of the most biased news networks (specifically toward conservative causes).y.
Summary: This article describes President Trump’s attitude towards Hurricane Florence based on his experience with the hurricane that devastated Puerto Rico last year. The article explains how President Trump believes the United State’s efforts to assist Puerto Rico were “an unsung success,” and he believes America will have no issues with Hurricane Florence (though he did vow that the safety of Americans is his highest priority). House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer is calling the President to apologize for his comment regarding the natural disaster that left thousands dead and a country still in shambles.
Analysis: The Conservative political party bias that FOX News is infamous for is very evident in this article regarding President Trump’s comment on the “success” of the United States regarding the hurricane that hit Puerto Rico last year. House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer has released a statement asking the President for an apology for the President’s comment insinuating the hurricane had any sort of success tied along with it, but the phrasing of this article makes House Democratic Whip Steny seem very inconsiderate to do so. The way the information in this article is framed portrays a right of center bias in favor of the Conservative party.
Opinion: In my personal opinion, I feel as if associating a hurricane that devastated an entire country, killing thousands and leaving the survivors still without food, shelter, and power, is insensitive. I also disagree entirely that the United States’ efforts to assist Puerto Rico during their time of need was an “unsung success.” The country still today is primarily without power, and, like all events similar to this, the United States starts strong with our relief efforts before quickly dwindling our support.
