Women usually aren't recommended to have any alcohol consumption during pregnancy because it can have major effects on the new born child. doctors in Ireland are recommending drinking Guinness because it contains high sources of iron which is good for woman's pregnancy.
In Irish culture for them to go to a gathering or a get together and not have a drink and substitute it out with a non alcoholic beverage is abnormal to them. The changes the Irish are trying to change is to make people see the view of alcohol differently while being pregnant because they have one of the highest fatal alcohol spectrum disorder In the world. Irish have a percentage of about 5% of this disorder because of the drinking which affects the brains of babies. Many pediatricians in Ireland don't really have the best education on how drinking while pregnant isn't harmful thats why many women do it and they never know it.
