Assessment of news source: The article i found is sourced from the famous "Usa Today". Usa Today is a big internaional base, american daily newspaper. With the most widest circulation of any newspaper in American, they are considerably one of tops news souce. Usa Today has at least daily 7 million readers as of 2016.The creator of the article are John Bacon, rewrite chef, and Bill Keveney, television reporter. John Bacon has been in the industry for a while and has many references to back him up. John with Usa Today for more than three decades. Bill Keveney writes about the television businees and its programming from Los Angeles. Bill was part of the team that help lead The Hartford Courant win a Pulitzer Prize.

Summary: The article is about a Dallas officer by the name of Amber Guyger who was accused of manslaughter after killing her neighbor in his apartment. Amber was in her full uniform and was currently getting of work. When entering what she thought was her apartment she saw a black man, 26-year-old Botham Jean, in the apartment, which then caused her to shoot. Jean was a graduate of Harding University who worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas. Police say guyger, a four-year veteran, told investigators she was returing home from her shift and accidentally entered Jean's apartment and thought Jean was an intruder and shot him.

Analysis: After reading the article from my understanding the writer is trying to get us to feel anger and sympathetic. They way article tried to achieve its goal is by using word choice and adjectives that would trigger the audience. The article first describe the victim, Jean, as a black male. Then describe Guyger the accuser as Officer and a white female. The fact that it was a white officer that shot a black male is what made the story and thats what the writer was trying to emphasize on. If the writer describe it as a female shot a man that she thought that was a intruder in her apartment, but since it was a white female officer killing a black man it made a bigger story. The writer then adds that Jean was a middled age college graduate and referring on how the mayor and multiple saying he was a good man to cause sympathy towards the victim. The witer did a good job and achieved its goal.

Opinion: In my opinion Amber Guyger, the shooter, should be arrest for sure. She should not be able to live life as if nothing just happened just because it was an accident. To honesty think about it, it seems as if she is getting special treatment because she words for them. She should be treated as if any other person did it accident or not. She literary killed a man in his own house, just because she accidentally thought it was her house. Accidents can't bring back a man's life.

The article I choose was posted by NBC news which is directed by Noah Oppenheim. On the NBC news website their claim to their audience is that they intend to satisfy all audiences. Although, I believe that while reading their article they have a drive towards supporting environmental awareness. The tone in the article felt as if they were almost agreeing with the lawyers and other people behind the movement of wanting cigarette butts banned. In the article "Plastic Straw ban? Cigarette butts are the single greatest source of ocean trash" there is a great amount of information supporting the facts behind cigarettes being the greatest source of trash in the ocean.
