TW: sexual assault

News Source:
WSB-TV is news station owned by Cox Media Group, Inc and ABC. The news source shares information on local events, offers consumer advice, upcoming community gatherings, etc. Cox Media Group is a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, which was founded by James Cox. Cox was the governor of Ohio, the U.S. Representative for Ohio, and the Democratic nominee for the 1920 election, with Franklin D. Roosevelt running as Vice President.
The news network seems to lean liberal because of Cox's past and the company's environmental foundation, Cox Conserves Heroes.

Summary:
An East Point police officer is on paid administrative leave after a 15 year old girl alleges he sexually assaulted her. The East Point Police Chief contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to handle his case.
The girl was with two boys and one other girl when Sgt. Richard Goodine arrived to the park they were at. He detained the victim for being out past curfew. He allegedly drove her to an apartment complex in the area and sexually assaulted her for almost three hours. Afterwards, he drove her back to her apartment and handed her back to her mother.

Analysis:
The video on the article's page goes into further detail about the incident; the unnamed victim was with a small group of friends in Sykes Park when she was detained by Sgt. Richard Goodine for being out past curfew. She claims the officer took her to Village of Highlands apartment complex and sexually assaulted her there. After being held at the complex for approximately three hours, Goodine drove her to her home. The girl’s mother, who spoke to WSB-TV reporters, says the officer told her he “wanted to personally bring her home.”
After the officer left, the girl broke down and confided in her mother. She immediately brought her daughter to a WellStar Hospital.Thomas Reynolds, the family’s lawyer, states the hospital has video recordings of the officer stalking the halls, trying to find the girl’s room. He explains the emergency room staff had to escort the officer out of the hospital.

Opinion:
The article explains the situation and the victim's allegations without bringing in outside opinions, unlike other news sources. We hear the victim's side of the story through her mother and their lawyer; we also know the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently handling the case. Whether or not any disciplinary or legal action takes place is up to the amount of evidence the GBI presents and if the family decides to press charges.
