Assesment news source:
The article has a deep analysis about the visit of the Pope to Ireland. It covers from what events occurred such as the Papal Mass to the after-events questions made by the press. The news source shows a variety of questions to punctually organize the main ideas so the reader can follow the information. Also, the use of other links, images and videos to support the main topic was useful. Finally, the quotes by the main characters in this issue presented in the news source gives more credibility.
Summary:
The news article was about the unsuccessful visit of the Pope to Ireland. Irish Catholic Community is plunged nowadays, according to the BBC. The mass taken place in Dublin's Phoenix Park was less approved by people than any other Pope before. Also, the article talks about the accusation letter from Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano and its ilegitimity. Finally, the article follows up with the intervention of The Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Leo Varadkar about the Pope's inexistent intervention in child abuse accusation, with a final section in which the Pope gives an opinion about on same sex-marriage in Ireland.
Analysis:
As I went through this article from the BBC, I found relevant the why Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano wrote a letter as he wants the Pope to resign. Regardless of the fact that Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano doesn't have solid evidence about the Pope covering the serial predator McCarrick since 2013, it is clear for many people that the Pope was somehow part of it. Also, the declarations and messages of forgiveness given from the Pope formulates a concern mentality of the truth of this case. On the other hand, the silence of the Pope about the letter gives him the benefit of the doubt.
Comments:
I found the article easy to follow, interesting and informative. Showing the dialogue between the Pope and the press was a fundamental point for this BBC fragment. Unfortunately, I have to add that the article presents the Pope as the "bad guy" in this section, Why? Because it shows his "lack of professionalism" as described By Martin Bashir, BBC Religion editor, without considering that things have change since the last Pope, this meaning that the way things are done now can be totally different than before, but that doesn't mean that it is wrong or needs to go back to previous ways to do things.
